Hardness of water is mainly due to the presence of
calcium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide
calcium trioxocarbonate (IV) or calcium tetraoxosulphate (VI)
sodium hydroxide or magnesium hydroxide
calcium chloride or sodium chloride salts
