Forklaring

Supporting tissues in plants have several functions, including:

  • Structural support: Supporting tissues provide the framework and support the structure of the plant, holding up leaves, flowers, and buds.

  • Transportation: Supporting tissues transport water, nutrients, and assimilates throughout the plant.

  • Protection: The strength of supporting tissues protects the plant from enemies. For example, the hard shell of many seeds prevents animals from chewing them to pieces or puncturing them.

  • Flexibility: Supporting tissues give the plant flexibility and resilience, allowing it to bend without breaking.
