The government is the institution through which leaders exercise their power to make and enforce laws. It is responsible for creating policies, maintaining order, and ensuring that laws are followed within a state. The judiciary, political parties and security agencies are integral parts of the political system, but the government is the overarching institution that exercises the authority to legislate and enforce laws.
