According to Marxist theory, society is divided into two main classes in a capitalist system:
- The Bourgeoisie – These are the owners and controllers of the means of production (factories, land, businesses, and capital). They exploit workers to maximize profit.
- The Proletariat – These are the working-class people who do not own production resources but sell their labour to the bourgeoisie for wages.
