JAMB - Chemistry (2005 - No. 45)

The ores that can be concentrated by flotation are
nitride ores
sulphide ores
oxide ores
non-metals

Explicació

Flotation, a common ore concentration method, is primarily used for concentrating sulphide ores like those containing copper, lead, and zinc.

Flotation excels at separating valuable minerals from sulphide ores because the process relies on the selective wetting of sulphide minerals by oil, which allows them to attach to air bubbles and float to the surface. Common examples of sulphide ores concentrated by flotation include galena (PbS), zinc blende (ZnS), and copper pyrites (CuFeS\(_2\)).
