Explicació

The placentation type where ovules are attached to the inner margin of the placenta is called marginal placentation. In this type, the ovules develop along the edge of a single carpel, forming a ridge or series of rows.

Pride of Barbados, or Caesalpinia pulcherrima, exhibits marginal placentation. This means the seeds are attached to the placenta along one edge or margin of the fruit. Examples of other fruits with marginal placentation include beans and cowpeas.
